Hi all.

Recently replaced the lift pump on my 300TDi.

Noticed a tapping noise coming from the engine last week, between idle and 1500 RPM. Cleared above that.

I thought it was an injector, but on closer inspection its the primer arm of the lift pump bouncing up and down!

If you hold it still, the noise goes. Let go and it starts swinging up and down on its own

Is this normal? I guess not!

Mine did this getting off the ferry in france, shat myself until I realised what the noise was, I just bent the bar towards the front of the disco and it wedged against the lift pump body and never moved again

Awesome, yep ill tie it up thats no problem. As long as its not an indication of another fault its fine :)

Cheap lift pump i guess.

Most lift-pump priming arms support themselves. If you lift the arm then push just a little harder it will 'click' into place and self support.
