My Disco 2 Td5 has recently developed a quiet grinding noise when turning right. Does anybody know what this is, and how to fix it?

I'm guessing it's the big ball shaped CV joint by the offside front wheel, but only makes it when mving so can't get under and check.

Is replacing CV joints a DIY job for a relative novice mechanic, or am I better paying a specialist?

.....with a bit of muscles(or a compressed air tool)....procedure from RAVE and the proper spanners + some stubbornness.... it's quite easy. I did it myself and my field is the electrics/electronics not the brute mechanic jobs.

Brute force is my specialty, it's the fine fiddly stuff I struggle with. That's why I thought the Disco would suit. You should see the mess I made of my alloy bike engine. Thank the lord for helicoil.....
