noise from fuel tank TD4

When sat in the car,engine running,I can hear a ticking sound from the back of the car.Today,with engine running,I was scraping the ice off and as I went past the fuel filler,I could hear it really loudly.I'm assuming its a fuel tank fuel pump,but should I be able to hear it? My Haynes manual makes no mention of a fuel pump that far back(or I just haven't found it in there)
So,my question is,if I can hear it,is it on its way out?is it easy to get to?is it fixable or if not,is it pricey?

The fuel pump on my td4 is in the rear wheel arch

Does it make an audible clicking sound,that is quite loud?

A loud clicking from the rear arch once a second or so on cold mornings = the pump for your fuel burning heater.

I think you have one of these
