hiya all , there`s always summat to do running a p38  .
I've had this problem for ages now but there has always been more important things to do , now everything is shipshape ( touches wood very quickly :D ) i can now turn my attentions to this annoying noise !!.
it is by far worse when its a windy day and I'm driving into the wind , the noise sounds very much like the wind gets under a piece of trim around the screen or sunroof seal ????????? at times it can be very loud depending on how windy it is and how fast I'm travelling , i seem to remember reading a post about this ages ago but i cant find it ? , Ive had a quick look today around the screen area but nothing seem to be loose ? does anyone have any idea`s it really does get on your t*ts when it starts cheers.

The top screen finisher does sometimes cause a noise, even though the trim looks secure the wind gets underneath. Fix is to prise the trim off slightly and run a small bead of windscreen sealer underneath and then press it home. If your windscreen needs replacing afterwards the trim is covered under the insurance and can be replaced with the screen at no extra cost.

thanks for that Irish mate , i guessed summat like that ,i did check the trim around the scree and as you say it appears pretty secure , i`ll give it a go with the caulking gun and see what happens .

No problem. Just remembered I read about it on the Autodata site under recalls for the P38. The Missus had to have a new screen a couple of years ago and I was getting a high pitched "Fart" at speed. Got the windscreen guy to put a run of sealer under my top trim, which he did, pressed it down to bed it and cleaned the excess off-result-no more noise! Had to get a new screen in the P38 and got the screen people to also put a run under the trim at the same time. As new trim is covered if needed under the insurance, I only had to pay the normal excess. Again-no problems with noise.
