Noise after diesel shuts off?

I’m new to the Landy world so forgive my ignorance.... just purchased a series3 diesel.... after I shut motor down there’s a fanlike noise under the hood that runs for a bit?

Tried opening the hood to see if anything is still running?
You could open the hood with the engine still running & watch while someone else turns the engine off.

It was actually a vacuum pump connected to power breaks‍
