I picked up an S plate 300 TDI for my wife last month and finally got it back on the road after changing the head gasket.

The most annoying fault left to resolve is a non fucntioning radio, after checking the wiring it appears I am lacking the ignition feed, all the fuses are intact.

Is there anything common on the Disco that causes the radio ignition feed to disappear?

I had the same problem mate. I ran a fused Live direct from battery to the radio in the end.

Just remember to turn radio off when you get out the car

I have considered running a permant live for the radio but would really like to get the ignition feed sorted as given its the wife's car I fear a call out when she forgets to turn the radio off

you should be able to find an ignition feed from the fusebox,or the ignition itself,it takes hardly any power, although an inline fuse might be good for piece of mind

For an ign live i have connected a relay to the input of the fuel cut off solenoid. Fuse the take off from the solenoid and the feed from the battery thru the relay.

The power supply to the head unit is from the battery is via the accessory relay and fuse 3 in the main fusebox, the accessory relay is switched via a supply from the ignition switch.
The supply to the head unit from the fuse is via a light geeen/orange wire and from the relay to the fuse, light green/white wire..

Thanks now just to track down why the cooling fans run with the ignition on, and why the front fog lights don't work.

Ok, if you mean the pair of a/c fans in front of the rad then just for starters either the a/c is switched on or it's a stuck relay there's also an engine over tempreature sensor in the thermostat housing that could be faulty.
Factory fitted fogs ES style use the same fuse as the head lamps but check the supply at the white plugs behind the headlamps first.

Yes do mean the a/c fans, they are still going mad even with the a/c turned off. Will try disconnecting the temprature sesnor first, but I do have my suspicision that it might be a stuck relay.
