Evening folks!

Can someone please help me with swivel house steering on my defender 2002 110 td5.
i'm replacing the whole swivel housing on the landy and I'm being stopped by fitting the top bearing seat as i can't get it to fit in to the ball.
The bottom went in just like its shown on all the tutorials but I've managed to snap the top bearing seat.

On the ball ive taken off theres a lip to catch the seat but on the new one there isn't and the hole is about 2mm smaller.

As far as i can see on every picture on the web for new swivel housings theres no lip and they all look much the same really.

Am i a complete moron or is there something a miss here?

Also can't understand my chassis No. against part descriptions when buying so guessing this is the cause of my dilemma really!o_O

SALLDBH572A636050 is the No.

Cheers in advance.

Bloody typical that!!...never one a game of toss the coin in my life!!

So, just so i can maybe favour my odds in my next purchase, which is likely to be steering related, how did you come to this conclusion via my Vin No.? How do i break it down to usefulness? Couldn't understand or relate to any explanations online.

300tdi onwards use ball frc7065 supercedes to ftc5366 ie after ka pre ka uses frc2644 supercedes to ftc5105,if you look at your vin number the 2 digits before the last 6 numbers determine age for parts purposes xa would be year 99 and ka year 93 a 2002 model is going to want parts after xa not upto ka

Outstanding!!..Thanks very much man!!
Its a labour of love Landy ownership!.....Learnt to drive in a series one at 7years old. If only i knew then!

Just stripped out the injectors, gave them a ultrasonic bath, put it it all back together (breaking an injector adjuster screw, about 15 drill bits, a tap, time and my soul) thinking it would solve my starting issues after a new fuel pump, filter, return valves, injector harness but naaaaa!
Fitted a new MAF sensor for £35 and it seems fine now!!...love hate man..love hate.

Thanks again for the knowledge bud. Much appreciated.
