No spark 1999 1.8 freelander

If there's no power reaching the coil, then the crankshaft position sensor is the next thing to check.
 
If you have a multimeter, just check if your coil is getting power. They’re generally extremely reliable. A more common fault on these earlier cars is a faulty distributor cap and/ or rotor arm.
 
Also consider the condition of the HT leads - particularly the one between the coil and dizzy cap...
