Most odd and most curious...

I use the trip odometer to log my mileage inbetween LPG fills cos I am a total geek and I log my MPG, miles, Costs etc...

Logging MPG can give warning of issues, a sudden dip could be caused by something like a blocked LPG or Air Filter...PCV Failure, Binding brakes etc...

Anywho I digress...

Noticed this morning about 7 miles into my journey to work, my Trip was reading 1.2 miles - and I filled up 26 odd miles ago!

OK no matter small hiccup just add 25 miles to the reading when I fill up....

Hopped in mid morning to pop to the Post Office, and the mileage was still where it was when I got to work at 16.3miles (plus the 7 miles i had already done so actually I had done 23.3 to work which is normal) after about 1.2 miles I glanced at the trip again and it was back to 0.4 miles !!!!!

Popped into the Post Office and back into the car, the 3.2 miles journey was still there, and when I got back to the office it was sat at the correct mileage for the journey.

Stopped the engine and then ignition back on and the mileage is still correct....

The Clock and Date are still correct so it is not a voltage being lost issue, Check Control indicates a good voltage to the Instrument Panel, no starting issues and the battery and alternator charge are within the parameters...

Gonna now plug the All Comms in and see if there is a logged code (doubt it) and report back....

EDIT: Can't plug All Comms in - Put the Laptop on Charge the other night and it is still the living room...:(

Most curious!

When you push any buttons on a Rangie there is an unwritten sequence to follow.

1. position you finger in front of the button to be pushed or pressed.
2. close you eyes very tightly, no peaking now.
3. push or press the button.
4. now open your eyes and look in total amazement at the results.

The outcome will be either something marvellous has happened without breaking it.

or....

You've broken it:hysterically_laughi

Sounds like the button is making random contact, you've probably got a broken reset switch, the vibration of driving causing the circuit to complete and reset itself. The obvious thing is make sure the reset button doesn't have slack/play in it.

Seriosly Ant, sounds like the LR favorite of corroded connectors or a bad earth.
Will be checking over New Year...

This is exactly my thoughts too Bix....

or loose/bad connection to speedo unit
Again, will be looking at this over the next couple of days...

Just to update.
No Issues with resetting on my drive home, I took it down Motorway, Dual Carriage Way, Down a few Farm Tracks, Through Puddles, pootle around the village with stop/starts, into the shops and parked up for 5 minutes, then home and no issues or resets....

Hmmmm.....will be busy trying to figure this one out!

Sounds like your other half is going to be lonely for the next few weeks. Might be worth getting her that ring she keeps pining over, you know to keep her on side. ;)

She has the Cats to keep her company - lucky for me she accepts and understands the 'joys' of Range Rover ownership!

As for the Ring - love her to bits, but at the cost of even a basic wedding these days, feck that....

Does she have a bag full of little bits of string too? :p

I wasn't suggesting that ring  more the fact that all women will have an item of jewellery that they really want but won't buy or ask for, just hint at. Although I see you have a new frugal motor, so maybe one of those plastic rings from a Christmas Cracker.
