Hi folks
Can anyone shed any light on my little problem?
300 tdi disco been fine all day going out last night pulled away its got no power and lots of white smoke, crept it home checked for head gasket no water in oil ,no blow back in expansion tank .Changed fuel filter this morning it runs on tick over with the occasional blip in revs but still got no power ,it runs forn about 200 yds then it dies

try removing the sediment bowl that is to the right rear above the back axle sounds like that is bunged up.

check lift pump. Take of both fuel lines and work the primer lever you should get a vacuum from 1 outlet and pressure from the other, if not it's buggered they are about £20

Int turbo failure like that usually blue smoke - injun oil dunt burn white.

White smoke is gonna be coolant (HGF) or unburnt fuel (multiple potential reasons but including low fuel pressure)

yer adz, im only saying turbo as i had one blow on me and it poured grey/white smoke out and gave exact prob as ee's avin!

Was just throwin some variety in. As it goes i agree 100% with white smoke normally bein fuel/coolant

Hi folks
Think we might have sorted this problem we have eliminated everything exept the fuel tank pick up/sender unit ,ran the disco with an independant fuel supply(10 quids worth of juice in a clean barrel) and the motor ran for 5 miles so fingers crossed this might be it

would be glad of any feed back

Folks
the dead disco has been reserected!.The problem was a dodgy fuel pick up /sender unit in the fuel tank done about 40 miles in her and she seems ok so thanks for everyones replies ,must give a mention to MM 4x4 who supplied my new sender at a third of the price my mechanic quoted me (pays to shop around )
