Hello Folks

Well i got my timing belt fitted after it went and replaced some rods and rockers on the second attempt got the timing right (did not have a kit so used a 9.5 drill bit and a flat head screw driver)

Well all was fine 150miles no problems then coming back after a day out it started blowing black smoke out but only a little bit on gear changes whilst on the motorway but when I got to the top of the slip road and came to a stop and went to set off again no power lots of smoke at first

I was only 5 miles from home at this stage so thought I would limp home which I managed to in the end

So whilst I was heading home I had no power could just keep the Disco moving at about 10 -15 mph but it would not go any faster and if I tried it would start smoking this time a greyish color

With 2 miles to go the temp shot up went in to the red but then dropped slightly and held just under the red

I got home and pulled up once i stopped the Disco it just cut out I left it to cool down for a couple of hours then had a look under the bonnet

All fluids are normal level checked oil level all ok and still clean not turning white so no water in it so I have been looking at other things and left her standing for 4 days

Today I tried starting it again but it would not turn over battery is good and the engine turns but will not fire up
So I have tried bump starting it with a tow this got the engine running but it would not keep running once out of gear and I could not rev the engine It just seemed to be only running when I was being towed and in gear with very little power

It will now not start under normal turn over I have taken the over flow pipe off and when i try to turn the engine over no fuel is coming out of the over flow pipe I have looked in to the rocker and they are moving so I take it the belt is still intact and not broken again also the fan is still turning

I have hand pumped the system to check if it was air in the fuel but that is running clear no bubbles

So now i'm at your mercy after advice on what could be wrong or if anybody else has suffered the same problem

all the best

sounds like more than 1 fault.

Black smoke = over fuelling. Blocked air filter, split delaminated or collapsed turbo hose ect.

Lots of grey smoke would indicate turbo failure

pull the pipe off the turbo and see if there's any movement in the fins or any scoring on the inside of the casing.

Well I got the timing kit so removed the cover and the new timing kit (the upgrade) that I put on was knacked the pulley was wedged between the case and the outer cover and had put a nice big groove in the outer cover but not gone through the bolt had undone it's self and the belt was well worn again

The bolt for the pulley was only getting a couple off threads in to the hole so out with the die kit now it fits and tightens great

Replaced with a new belt set timing put it all back together no probs

Started her up and fuel getting to the engine ok but still not right so I took off the rocker cover

1 snapped arm and 6 bent rods so i'm off back to paddocks again
