I'm properly p&%$ed off this aft. I'm fed up with all the different threads in my mind, trying to sequence things so that they all get sorted. If I wanted to project manage a new build, that's what my occupation would be - but I don't and it's not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

My roof lining needs to go on. I've almost become psychotic trying to 'do the right thing', taking advice on and then getting bogged down in soup. Cables bought so I don't have to decide yet on reversing cams, speaker cable bought, alarm donw.

So. One response from 5 people maximum please (if you don't mind and thatnks in advance if you do):

The name and model of two speakers to go here, 4", where my copper kettle lid is at the mo. I can just buy them, then move on with my life. Cheers.

Sorry @Mackers but you won’t get 2 x4” speakers in that 1 hole:D:D sorry:oops:

Oh and you have a radio you can hear?:eek:.

Why not try going to the local halfords and ask for the loudest 4” speakers they have:) it’s not like quality matters in a defender.
You may find you get more sensible answer from a halfords sales person too:D:D.

Oh it was the voices that made me type that:D:eek::oops:

Halfords make me feel sick. It's 4" either side of this trim. I'll buy 100mm spacers which bring the depth out, so I can just about manage to take a 4" diameter (I've done it before :0). Got a tip for the voices. Talk to them!

Postef in haste. Bought some front ones too now. Cheers for that. They're perfect for the rear. Does anyone know of a pair of pioneers suitable for the front? The chap who had it before had put a 5 1/4 inch kenwood on one side, and I assume left the OEM speaker on the right which is 5". Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Must have been a popular aftermarket install - those Alpines were in mine in the same place, they were rusted to death. The apertures that your mongrel pair occupy will be the same diameter, only the outer trim differs.
The Pioneers replaced them both as a straight swap....better sound, for Defender anyway

Sony are my speaker of choice, Kenwoods are a decent brand but can sound tinny.

But if you want real quality then Polk DB501 5" would go under the dash and DB402 4" for your trimmy thing with the copper kettle lid.

Infinity are also good as are JBL (part of the Harmon international of Harmon Kardon fame).

Werrll the forty quiq ones I fiited last year (halfords) are starting to drop out already, so is worth a ppunt

Got em now. PIONEER TS-G1030F 4" INCH for back telephone trim, and Pioneer TS-G132CI (same but 5.25" for fronts). I think I'm gonna need 20 mm spacers at back, and on dash I might need these 30 mm?

FWIW the Pioneers mentioned above have been trialled and don't quite match up to the Half-odds VIBE SLICK 4 COAX (£30.00 in the shop, £25.00 online)
that I already had fitted. IMO of course.
Cheers
