no headlights

hi, I've just popped out in my defender 110, switched on the headlights and nothing. the sidelights work fine but when I switch to the next position nothing happens, main beam work fine. I've just checked all fuse's, bulb and connections and all seem fine. please can anyone help with any information in what it can be, as I need my defender this weekend and with the dark I need the lights.

Does main beam work with the headlights "on" or just on "flash"

When the sidelights are on they flash, when u switch the headlights don't work but the main beam flashes ok. So i take it its the relay, where is it and how easy is it 2 change?

what I meant was, turn the switch on to headlights, and the switch pushed back to the full beam position, do they come on.

The latched full beam and flash are fed from different circuits, if they don't work on latched, its the headlight switch not passing power through so its the stalk at fault.
If the work on latched, its the relay behind the speaker at fault.
