We have been trying to start my 1961 series IIA 2.25 diesel with no success. The fuel pump works, the system is primed and air bubbles have been removed as far as we know. We bled the system to highest point, on the fuel filter. But fuel is not getting to the injectors. We tried the bleed nipples on the injector/distributor pump and strong stream of diesel pumps out of the right hand side nipple (closest to the engine see image) but barely any diesel comes out of the nipple on the left. Does anyone have any idea what this might mean and any suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Welcome to LZ!

You should post about that in the Series section. But as you are here, your problem is almost certainly low cranking speed, due to bad battery or a duff starter motor.

Tow start will work.

Thank you for the advice I will try a tow start, I'm not sure if it is an issue with the starter because when we tried the bleed nipples we were operating the fuel pump by hand without the starter.

I think waht turboman is saying is, towing the thing will get the injector pump spinning and hopefully moving some diesel around and theres a good chance it will start.
Make sure you have a plan B to get the car back to the house in case it does not start!

That too. But also that batteries often get low at this time of year, and slow cranking is a common cause of poor starting on old diesels.
