No Drive...

Hi there,
I was pulling away on sunday when all of a sudden i heard a big bang coming from my 97 110 csw, lost all drive. Thought at first it was the gear box! but managed to pull away in the low box!. (The rear propshaft is rotating.)
Thought then that one of the half shafts had gone? but after inspecting them both yesterday that was not the problem.... Therefore i presume its the diff? any other possiblities???
It has a sailsbury axle. Do you think i require a new/reconditioned axle?? is it possible to untake this job myself ???

do you know which axle it is? when you say low box, do you mean centre diff lock?

with the handbrake off and diff lock off, you should feel resistance in the prop as it tries to rotate the diff. if one of them is spinning freely it will be the diff in that axle. if they are both showing resistance then its likely to be a half shaft.
