Evening
I've used the search but couldn't find owt so I'm posting it!

On the advice on here as it appeared I've got difflock due to the sticker showing it (fingers crossed it's original) on my 04 pursuit andthe lever seemed jammed I decided to remove the gator and sound deadening for a butchers and a good squirt of wd40 to free it up.

On removal there appears to be a metal plate bolted down over the lever which allows only movement for hi and low box as the slot only goes that forward and backwards. It prevents sideways movement totally. is it is this normal on the runout year pursuit models? I.e difflock physically there but because your not rich enough for a landmark LR don't want me to use diflock? Would removing this plate enable difflock?
Thanks
Phil

Some earlier Disco 2's had the diff-lock some didn't, it depended on which spec the vehicle was. Many Disco 2's didn't even have the internal workings in the transfer box. I'm sure there's somebody on the forum who could tell you exactly which models did or didn't have the diff-lock. LR thinking was that the Traction Control system would get you out of most situations without the need for a diff-lock.
Most of the later models did have the internals but not the linkage. The best way to find that out is to get under the vehicle and feel around for the actuating spigot just above the front output shaft on the transfer box.
The label is a standard fit for all Disco's, apparently it would have cost an inordinate amount to have different labels for all the variants.

Well Blow me,

I have never tried mine, just saw the label and assumed it was fitted. definately solid and does not want to move sideways. ( unlike the old 300tdi, which moved but still was seized and would not engage, LOL)

Cheers

Well I have another thought, at the offices I work at there is a poverty spec TD5 and the transfer box sticker just shows high low.

Mine was seized, also only a slot, drill out rivets (5mm x 16mm to replace) and remove the diff lock mechanism, 2 cables, the diff lock is operated by a shaft which seizes inside the other shaft, oil and force is loose, I greased mine.

Ooooh, will have to pull off the gaitor and have a shufty to see if the plate is blanked.

Yet another job , LOL

Cheers

Well had alook and there isa plate that has a slot in it, only 6mm clearance either side , so it looks like mine does not have the difflock fitted, why did they not change the sticker the lazy gits......

Difflock also has a narrow slot, so check the mechanism not the slot, also the knobs are different
