Hi,

My DSE as just come back from fitting a refurbished gearbox but now the Cruise Control won't work
I remember reading somewhere that there's some other fault that will inhibit the CC but I can't find the thread. The battery went dead so I had to reprogram all the windows. Could it be something that has been reset and will fix itself or should I start worrying?

EDIT: a bit of extra info: my DSE is manual, the CC switch is working (red light on) and it was working perfectly before going into the shop.

Cruise Control gets an input from the clutch sensor. The gbox was replaced so there's probable a problem with this sensor...

Take it back and get them to sort it then.

Finally got around to doing the Cruise Control tests, as per RAVE, but everything checked out fine and CC is still not working :confused2:

Also won't work if its logged an ABS fault (as mine has )
I suppose this is the kind of fault that as to be cleared with dedicated equipment or is it some kind of soft fault that I can clear without hooking it up to a Rovacom/Testbook/Faultmate?

Hmm.. when my gearbox broke (main shaft gone) I was driving in the highway, with CC on. Now, the manual says that CC will be disabled if the revs reach 5.000rpm but I can't be sure if it was disabled by this of if I touched the brakes when I saw the revs spiking, after the gbox broke.

My question: if the BECM disabled the Cruise Control when the revs reached 5.000 could it have logged a fault that needs to be reset in order to have CC operational again? Also, is there a list of all the faults that can be logged in the BECM ?

As the box has been off theres a good chance its just a bad connection on one of the gearbox connections than any thing else, I have a dse manual and there is also a switch on the clutch and brake pedals.

Sounds as if something has either been left disconnected, not adjusted correctly or damaged when the box was changed. Take it back and get them to sort it.
