1991 Defender 110.

Got in to move it today and the brake pedal is spngy and has loads of travel. No brakes! Light is on on dashboard. Pedal spongy with engine on or off. Where do I start. (Vacuum pump OK!)

Found the problem. Left hand rear cylinder leaking. Stripped it down and it a horrible mess. The top spring had broken and the shoes were soaking. New cylinder and shoes ready but need new springs now. I have offered up the new shoes (same as old ones) but the adjuster cam does not look like it will operate on the peg in the shoes. Should it, or will it operate against the backside of the shoe (opposite to lining side)??
