Night heater / pre heater exhaust position?

Lots of people seem to have various eberspacher / webasto / Ali express heaters on their defenders.

Where is the inlet and exhaust normally mounted?

They have little silencers, right? Are they used?

Pointing to the rear or the side of the car, not forwards as the rushing incoming air may effect the burn, try and keep inlet and exhaust roughly the same length.

Silencers, exhaust one makes a small difference, intake makes a bigger difference.

Minimum burn time wants to be 30 mins to keep the burn chamber clean.

Fuel consumption is roughly 1/2 litre an hour at full power.

I have a cheap chinese one on my boat, works very well.

watching this as i'm planning a chinese install, probably in between the two seats in a box venting towards the rear area of my 110 and into the cab as well, with the exhaust going out into the area above the TF box.
