I am Tim a long time Land Rover owner and a now proud owner of 2 vehicles. My daily driver has been a 1967 Series 2A 88, which is presently sitting on Hvar in Croatia.
3 years ago I purchased property on Hvar in Croatia, had the old gal shipped over and had planned to stay. The new illustrious EU rules for foreign residence means I cannot live there full time and new Croatian laws about foreign business investment had me close my design shop in Split and give up. (yes I know its not easy to move to the states, Ive heard it all before, lol)
Presently as before I am in Eastern Washington State.
Keeping it in the family I bought a very nice p-38. One of the reasons I did such besides the fact its a great vehicle, was support we Land Rover owners get from other owners..........something you cannot put a price on. The series 2A club has helped me keep it all going, its easier for you UK guys, not many Americans work on their own Range Rovers, they buy new ones, we are mostly alone.
Seems I may already have a slow air shock leak....ha ha .....and I didnt get 5 miles from the dealer and it boiled over, but they were cool and replaced the thermostat, water pump and heater core, it just before that had a new radiator............I will this week replace the totally worn out fan clutch.
The guy at the Dealership tried to sell me a Chevy Tahoe, saying it would be more dependable....DUH, who cares.......some folks just dont get it at all. I did consider an Audi Allroad Turbo also. It was clearly cared for and its really a luxury ride compared to my Renault 4 and 2A.
And so begins my new life with my new Rover...... other than non working temp gauge, no radio code...:>(((.... its straight as an arrow, from a no rust area and not a scratch on the bottom frame.........interior looks like a single person owned it.
My 2A will remain on Hvar until I sell the 18,000 meter square and little house. Then it will be shipped home, I miss the old gal. Kind of becomes who you are driving an old Land Rover.
Nice to meet everyone.......see you around here I am sure
