Morning all, apologies if I have posted this wrongly but its the first time I have logged on here. I wanted to seek your experience around refurbishment of engines.
I have a SWB 2008 Defender XS 2.4tdci which around a month ago suffered from low oil pressure which subsequently has blown my turbo and created an awful knocking from my engine, the car is now off the road having had the turbo replaced by a landy specialist together with a full oil change but with the awful knocking still very apparent. The specialist says I either need the engine refurbed or to find a replacement refurb unit, its not something he does so I have looked to the internet and have been inundated by all kinds of offers from £1900 to £4000 to refurb mine or if beyond refurb to replace it. Some of the companies don't look the best so I wanted to know if you guys have experience of someone you would recommend who has undertaken similar works on your behalf, failing all of this I may end up selling her as a project as she is generally in good condition only done 42500 miles and has a new turbo!!
