Hi there, remember the lada so I do, fokin terrible thing, **** to drive and just generally horrible. The 4x4 thing was a little bit better and I kind of liked the shape. The engines had a tendency for the timing chain to eat the front of the engine, the guages moved back and forth as you went around corners, the rear alloy drums used to weld themselves on, the front calipers fell to bits and in general the whole vehicle was ****.

You should be at home with your freelander:D

you are spot on about the niva!!daily maintainance, probably like the f.L. great offroad though. it will be niceto get my spanners dirty again, and i am sure i will!!

Hello to you too!

I'm also new here and have also just bought a Freelander 1 (opportunistic buy) having never quite got over the lr bug I caught when I owned a RR years ago :)

Going to the AWDC driveround on Sunday so will see just how bad my off-road driving is then. I suspect the tyres on my fl and my driving will be the problem, rather than the fl itself...

In that case you will enjoy it, most of the landies need regular work anyway, but have a good search in the freelander section so you know where you are going and what kind of costs.

Dont think they are great off road, but if they were then I guess in a way it takes some of the fun out of it. The skill is not getting stuck and the fun is in getting unstuck.

Its what you make of it and if you kept the lada going then you are going to have great fun.
