Hi, I’m the owner of a 2008 Freelander 2. I’ve had him 5 years. My first ever landrover but not my last. It’s a great car despite its faults. The steering is very heavy, apparently it’s a common fault where the plastic particles break up inside and cause issues - and will cost £3k to fix so I just live with it.
Have already found this forum really helpful for fixing other stuff.

The steering shouldn't be heavy on a FL2. The filter in the power steering fluid reservoir can block up which reduces flow of the fluid and starves the system. You have to replace the reservoir as the filter gauze is fixed inside. Worst case it the steering rack is damaged and needs replaced. That should cost £3k to replace. Even a main dealer can do it for less.
