Bought a '98 300tdi 3 months ago,am well pleased as its my first disco and it runs really well, however within the last week I am beginning to have problems getting it started.
I turn the key, engine turns over but doesn't fire up, usually happens when the engine is warm and then only occaionally but it does seem to be getting worse. Sometimes I have to wait an hour or two and sometimes only a half hour before it starts again.
I have already created a great deal of anger when I blocked the unloading ramp of a ferry and I am not keen to repeat that. Reading through the posts it would seem that I have an immobiliser problem which can be fixed by running a wire from the fuel stop solenoid to the ignition.
Could that be my problem or could there be anything else causing it?
