Newbie with parking sensor fault

Hi, have a 54 plate Td4 SE, and this is my first Landrover. 3 months in and all well , however parking aid seems to be faulty. Light comes on on switch with continuous beep. Fuse checked and ok, reverse lamps coming on. Not sure what else to check, anyone able to suggest something? Julie would be grateful.

Unplug it and learn how to park it yourself.

With the engine off, but ignition on, put the car in reverse then go and put your ear next to each sensor in turn. If they are working you will hear a clicking noise, if you don't hear it then that sensor is faulty. One duff sensor stops the whole system working.

I know this because it is a current problem on my car, just not got round to fixing it yet! You can buy a genuine sensor for around £30, you will need to drop the rear bumper to replace it.

Varley many thanks have checked and o/s sensor not clicking so looks like replacement to be sought

Hi,
If all sensors click and the light does come on when reverse is selected what else could be the problem for no sound at all coming out? Is there a separate loud speaker or anything that could have failed?

Any help would be appreciated.
The freelander is a 2006 td4 5 door auto.

Have had parking sensor fault long beep and button flashes on 05 td4 freelander , had a dig around in fuse box replaced fuse no 16 - cured the problem - this is not the fuse for parking sensor according to manuals but has sorted it ( went through checking every fuse )

Listening for clicking of the sensors is not a fool-proof method.

The reversing sensors on my wife's 2006 TD4 slowly got worse starting with an occasional bleep until a few months later when they would just keep sounding continuously when reverse was selected unless they were turned off. Despite this, they were all clicking merrily away when active.
I checked the connections & wiring harness to the control module (behind the rear panel in the boot) but that made no difference so decided that I would replace the sensors first and then if that failed, the module.
Removing the rear bumper is actually very easy however it is very likely that a couple of the steel screws that hold the mud-flaps in place (the ones directly behind the wheels) will be seized but 2-minutes with the Demel had a slot cut in each one and then using a right-angle flat screwdriver they came out without further problems.
I purchased a couple of eBay £10 specials (one of each type of sensor as there are two, inner & outer), the reasoning for buying only a pair was if the fault was still there I would swop them to the other side and re-fit the old ones. If even this didn't cure the problem then I knew it had to be the module.
As it turned out it fixed it first time and the sensors worked perfectly, 15-minutes later it was all back together and they have been working fine ever since.
