Hey all,

I'm new here. I've been into Landy's for ages and now the opportunity has arisen to buy a belter. I want to learn how to off-road and this car seems ideal!

It belongs to my best mates dad and he has told me to make an offer - I just don't have a clue what its worth!

Its a solid blue 1996 N reg 300 TDi 110 Defender County. He has owned it from new and it has done 90k miles with Full service history. Its got a genuine tow bar, alpine lights, Sony CD player, sunroof and side steps. Its never had any expense spared but did have a top-end rebuild last year (I've heard that 300TDi's can suffer from problems here).

I'd like to add some Freestyle wheels and give it a good polish!

Thanks for having me here and any advice would be much appreciated,

Blimey, okay, thats lower than I thought - bonus!

Was looking at bits to help trick it up yesterday - Defenders looks great with NAS spec lights IMO.

Anyone else with any vlaue opinions?

Thanks again,

:D

Actually, re-reading the spec, 4 grand is maybe a tad low, but it's a private sale between friends so, yes 4 grand is a fair price. A mate of mine bought one this time last year almost identical to what you've described N reg blue County with 90 odd thousand miles for £4200.

NAS lights do look good, I agree. A-bar with a set of driving lights is a must, tree/rock sliders (mine are dirtbox4x4 ones from e-bay, £80), steering guard and light guards for starters. Roll cage and winch are handy, but rather expensive.

Ah yes,

Your thinking along the same lines as me with modding/pimping my ride!

Want it to learn how to off road but don't want to splash out on a winch or cage quite yet. Will get some spot lamps, steering guard, NAS lights, Freestyle wheels and rear work lamp first me thinks..
