Hi folks,

Hope your all fine this cold May morning.
I joined the Range Rover fraternity on Sunday so have been reading these
forums like mad an thought i had best introduce myself.

I bought a '99 4.6 HSE to see if the wife could live with it before dropping
a few more of our £s on a newer one. So far so good she loves it.

There are a few issues that need solving(never mentioned in the add) I should
have checked a little better. I hope to solve these myself, fingers crossed.

The volume up button on the steering wheel turns the stereo down, maybe
Telephone mute?? A simple reset maybe? or further work required?

No variation in the direction from the hevac unit and no air in the rear.
Blend motor maybe? all heat control works okay.

System keeps telling me the LH sidelight is out. its not. Think the
connector might be a little corroded.

Enough waffle from me. Looking forward to a long future with Range Rovers

Hope all is well,

Drew.

Welcome Drew, someone will be along with answers to your questions shortly i would think. As for side light yes just clean out socket and maybe fit a new bulb. That may do the trick. You have remarkably few problems hope it stays that way.
:welcome2:

The heater problem sounds like blend motors, it's worth exercising them by operating the distribution buttons every time you are in the car, they might just free up. Otherwise it's replacement. If you are going to DIY, look at Range Rovers for details of how to do the job. Oh and get under it and have a look at the airbags, if they haven't been replaced, the odds are they will need doing. Better to do before they let you down!:welcome2:

Woo Hoo.
I stripped the dash down today to have a go at the blender motor. turns out it was just
a bit stiff. As I turned the ignition on and off I noticed it move a small amount.
I gently applied a little pressure with a screw driver and it moved a whole lot more.
I then functioned it through the full range again assisting with a screw driver, Roberts
your mothers brother. Job done.
A big thanks goes out to the guys on this site and others that have documented what
they have done in the past.
Cheers.
Drew

On another note,
When stripping the panel off under the steering wheel, I found the speaker under the
wheel disconnected. It is an ordinary 3.5mm stereo plug to a rectangular speaker, any help idea what this speaker is for??

Thanks
Drew

Sounds like it could have been an extension speaker for a CB.

Welcome from another recent Newbie!
I have recently become a Rangie owner (last November). Since then I have driven 400 miles. The rest of the time mine has been broken down in one shape or form! But there is now light at the end of the tunnel. The MOT cost me £800 back in January - new suspension bags all round and some replacements to the steering mechanism. Then I managed about 100 miles before there was another problem which turned out to be head gasket. I should (fingers crossed) be back in the driving seat on Friday! (Can't wait!) But I have a long list of stuff to rectify afterwards: new stereo and speakers; fix aircon, service Rangie; and do something about crappy heated seats which barely work. I will be busy for many weekends over the summer this year! You learn a lot when you own a Rangie! On the plus side, the garage said the rest of the engine is in pretty good condition, so hope to have no significant problems for a while now. Welcome to an enjoyable but expensive world of Rangie Owners!

Karl.
