I would be grateful for your encyclopaedia knowledge on something that is driving me mad.
Last week, I bought an absolutely mint condition 2007 Freelander 2. Everything works, it drives beautifully and is immaculate.
Now, bear in mind I’ve never had a Freelander before, so didn’t know a thing about the keys/fob.
Anyway, when I went to collect it, the chap gave me two fobs and said one of them needed the battery renewing.
The other one worked fine.
On seeing how different and specialist they were, I thought to myself that I would be up the creek, should I lose the only key I had.
I thought it would just be a case of buying a battery and putting it in, but you enthusiasts know better. Now I do too! I found an advert for a firm who changes the battery, services the fob and quickly sends it back.
True to their word, they did the work in lightning turnaround and for just under 50 quid I had my brand new key, and I was chuffed I had got it.
Except, it didn’t work!!!
No matter what I pressed......nothing.
I got back to the firm who said something like if the key hadn’t been used for a long time, it forgets the programming pattern of it.
So I’ve spent £50 got a brand new key/fob and it’s useless.
Could anyone advise me what I need to do to get a second key please?
