Thanks although questions are only silly if you don't know the answer ? i know f*ck all about 4x4's and just brought as it will get the dog, wife and kids in it no bother ! but i will learn to do searches !

We get it sometimes on the motorcycle forums where established posters tend to feel they run or own the forum ? and mock newcommers, where as i reply and offer help as i too was once a newcommer.

Sirus ! you have riased a smile from me as these days i do try not to "trow out the pram"

I was gonna put "but you bought her a freelander" but that would be nasty and harsh so i'LL LET YOU READ THAT SOMEWHERE ELSE:D

Well yesterday i knew f*ck all ! today i know you lot know a lot about Freelanders ! and i need to check/replace the turbo/breather/fuel/valve filters ! so i'm going too get some and get my mate who's handy with a spanner to have a look !

Great site ! Thanks

REplace the Pressure delimiting valve filter near the injectors £25 (doddle to fit), replace the turbo filter(even easier) and if your up for a challenge fit a fuel filter
Finally give it a good doose of fuel injector clean into the fuel tank (When/if the injectors play up they can be difficult to get out)

Keep an eye on the coolant level (Tendancy for the cap to leak) cost £3 from L/R

After that if not totally sure top up the rear diff oil and read the tuning diesels website in preperation for Maf failure or you feel its a bit sluugish from set off

Is it necessary to replace the liminating valve assy at £25 rather than its filter at £3?

I found my problem was the rubber diaphragm in the unit was stuck to the top of the lid and not venting, Only found this by being nosey and seeing what was inside, When you blow into the top it should move the diaphragm about, It did on the new one but not on the hold

The top vent allows air in to release the vaccuum in the unit but as said it was stuck

At 65mph+ oil was dripping out of it and it was running out of power. They can reduce the life of the turbo if left

Thanks Shutty for the nice clear reply. I was curious because where main dealers used to replace just the filter they are now replacing the assembly, maybe it isn't the rip off that I suspected!
