Hey folks first post on site and first discovery 1 did own a shogun but found it to be gutsy on fuel so bought myself a cheap disco but needs some work so any advice appriciated.Its a 93 l reg 5 door 200tdi bought it for 650 with 4 mnth tax and 1 mnth mot 139k on the clock 4 new tyres 4 new shockers but looks like it will need some welding for mot small hole in one of the sills hole in inner arch and the back door sill (rear cross member i think) is rotten at one side which of these will needd repaired to pass mot apart from sill not sure about the rest.The chassis is solid so is the boot floor.Does this sound like a good deal or have i payed to much anyone no what to expect to pay for welding mentioned was thinking of attempting it myself althuogh ive never welded before.Thanks in advance for any advice.

650 sounds pretty good but sounds like you got hours of fun there mate:D

at least with a landy most parts are cheap unlike ya slitty car you had before

Hi M8 and welcome to the LOONY Zone, plenty of help with just about everything there is to do with LR's (and loads that isn't as well)

Looking on Flea bay, I don't think you did that bad, there will always be one thats better, but . . . there is a hell of a lot that are very bad.

Just make sure you get the welding done properly (not just bodge plated on top) and the Disco will see you ok, it's a bliming good work horse, not the fastest on the road, but you have hours and hours of fun :D :D
 
Hi and welcome to the Loony Zone.Are you 100% sure the boot floor is ok, You wouldn't be the 1st person to think so and be very very wrong. the only way to be 100% is to lift the carpet and sound deadening and have a look. Rear crossmember will need welding as will sills if within 30cm of a mounting point. and the inner arch will because it's near a seatbelt mounting point.
