hi all
just bought my first disco (after many years doing freelander head gaskets im sick of them) its a 1994 jap import i believe its a 200tdi automatic

my problem is it seems very flat! going uphill it has to drop down to very low gears before it moves at a reasonable speed

just took the air filter out (big cylinder type) and its very rusty looks like its been on a while, so i plan on giving it a full service tomorrow

any more things i can do at the same time to improve my performance??

im not looking for a flying machine just something to deal with day to day life.

i have read threads on egr blanking but i believe the kits are only for 300tdi is this correct?

many thanks in advance guys all advice will be taken on board

Not 100% sure on 200tdi's but EGR and decat first, you can turn up the fuel pump (do a search on here) and that helps massively. Just remember you have got a 2 ton vehicle with 100bhp in it, thats really not that much....

im happy with it being slow aslong as its normal lol. i diddn't really want to turn the pump up if i could help it,

is it the same with the 200 to clean all inlet and intercooler out??

what is the best stuff to use to clean them?

EGR is 300 only. 200 needs good service, clean all pipes etc. Only other thing is pump tweak. Just adjusting the 'smoke screw' a little may provide all the difference u need. Search for thread 'sluggish disco... Not any more' in disco section. May help a bit

Searching ....
At the top of your page you will have a box with google custom search in it - just type what you need to know in there click search and you will come across allsorts
Best to try that first as the same questions get asked repeatedly otherwise.
This is a great forum - I honestly couldnt of coped without it so be patient lol

Good service.
Clean inlet manifold and inter cooler.
Remove centre exhaust silencer and even rear if you feel like it. It's not that loud.
Tweak the pump.
Check the timing. Uncle Charlie's thread in frequently asked questions is a good guide.

That's all that you need to do and really can do tbh.

couldnt believe the differance a new fuel filter made on our discos although they do still struggle with hills when cold! but think thats the norm.

Sedimenter looks like a filter houseing attached to inside of chassis near rear drivers side wheel. Think its 11mm spanner on top and the bowl will come off showering u in diesel n ****e lol. But I just cut mind off n put a new pipe in. Fenders don't have em, just a way of air getting in imo, as the pipes rot away
