New winch bumper prep and install

So i got my hands on a newly welded up winch bumper but no paint which was a good opportunity for me to see how good my spray painting was, so i got it prepped up by giving it a once over with sand paper and the sanding disk on some welds, a good clean with brake cleaner and the first coat of Acid etch primer made its way on.


Next was light sand, clean and a couple coats of waxoyl stone chip guard.


And finally and good clean and a few coats of Satin Black Plastic cote, hopefully i will get it all installed this weekend and post some pics..

Looking good but did you not see the fly stuck in the paint?

You laugh, when I was just finish the primer I opened the door a wee bit wider and on a day with no wind I got some mowed blades of grass stuck to the paint work. 😠

Well i got off work a wee bit early, so got the bumper and spots installed.

Sorry to bump an old topic But I've got a new winch bumper for my Rig on it's way. How has this paint lasted over the past couple of months? My tuck get's a lot of green laining use and the current stock bumper is already in tatters so i'm looking for the strongest painting method possible.

Sorry i didnt get this earlier, and im presuming you have made a choice on paint already but for what its worth its held out pretty good and because of the nature of the paint when it came to tiding up a few dings, simply rubbing down the area and applying a few fresh coats it blends in very well.
