Hi all
Drained oil from ird after having to use irwin nut extractors to remove filler plug. Would recommend trying to get filler plug off before draining oil! No lumps of metal fell out and oil quite clean, just a bit of metallic sludge on the drain plug. Removed the vc and propshafts and ran in mondeo mode. No nasty noise. Checked vc bearing and rough as dogs. Going to replace vc and bearings since the old girl has done 80k. Seen vc and bearings at island 4x4 for £349 and free delivery. Prices seem to vary a lot from £200 for vc upwards. This sound ok?

Buy a recon from Bell. Island will sell you brit part bearings which will last about 6 weeks before they start making noise. Bell will do you a recon unit with decent bearings fitted for that.

Can you torque test your old and replacement vcu for us, and put the results on the VCU testing fred at the top of the Freelander forum?
