Right, I have finally managed to get a Disco V8 at a price I wanted to pay, with nearly a years MOT(no advisories) and 6 months tax.

Won't be seeing it for a week or so as I'm away in Spain, but I do know that the LPG system doesn't switch over, so it is currently working on petrol only. What sort of things would stop it switching over, just to give me a head start.

Thanks,

Jon

Peter, don't know anything other than it's a 1995 3.9 and just wondered if there were any generic things on lpg systems that would so it switching over.

And yep petrol is great, that's why I don't have diesel motorbikes :-D but I would like to save a bit of money by having the lpg working

That depends - if it costs you a grand to get the LPG working(quite easily done if it a multipoint and the ECU is knackered) you would have to do a lot of miles to get that money back

If, like a lot of people you use your landie as a third car for taking stuff to and fro, getting kids to school in the snow etc, then it it probably won't be worth the aggro

Have you found the switch-over panel with the tank gauge LED's ?

It won't do anything if switched to petrol, you have to tell it to go to LPG. It's normally a small rocker switch with four green LED's and one red one.

Well done on your purchase. However, what about rust? Did you view before purchase? If not, forget the LPG for a minute! There is sure to be some rust on a Disco of that age. Probably loads. MOT is no guarantee of that.

My old Disco didn't have rust in the usual places, that had all fallen out and onto the road years before. So it just had huge holes everywhere :D
