evening all have got myself a new toy a 2001 1.8 Irish freelander.
spears or repair
it has got tow bar/ soft front nudge bar/ side steps/ that's wye i got it .
still on Irish plates ad said cam belt had gone and as it was down the road
from me i got it its a 5 door.
no abs or hill decent or traction control its so basic i did,t know they did one
with nothing in it. it dose have a radio and 15 inch alloys .
had a look at the engine and there was no water in the radiator put some in and it came strait out the water pump. took cam belt cover off and guess what
the belt is fine so put more water in and turned the engine over it fired but wont run. going to look at the distributor cap tomorrow and check the plugs and all this for £140

Don't know whether to congratulate you or commiserate with you but good luck with it.:p
I've had a lot of fun working at my K series but paid 10 times that for it.

Hey, that's cheap toy. Many hours of enjoyment ahead!

"...no abs or hill decent or traction control ..." I didn't know they came like that from the factory - was that an option?

Good that parts are cheap for the most part and there's plenty of s/hand bits too.

Have fun.

The TC, HDC & possibly ABS were options on early Freelander - don't know if it ever became standard - and I don't know if it varied by country. If it ever had it there would be the yellow HDC switch.

it lives got it going but water was pouring out pretty fast one step closer.
no abs pump just a servo and a junction for the brake pipes.
engine bays fuse box is the same size as a packet off cigarettes 2 relays and fuses
and that's all the relays it can hold.
even the inertia fuse board has about 14 fuses on it but it the same as my one (with less fuses) and did i say last year he put a new ird box on it. so when you look at the engine its the only clean thing.
