i have a 52 plate 4.4v8 vogue which as only covered 40k miles and im now having a problem with the gear select.
the problem is the gear select will not illuminate when i turn ignition on which means i can not start the engine in park,but if i select neutral and keep turning ignition key just before turn over the display will light up but only in neutral then it will start and as long as the display stays illuminated it runs normal but if the display doesnt stay lit there is no power but car will move.also im getting the message trans failsafe,please can anyone shed light on my problem?thanks:)
 
Yep, I agree with tomcat59alan, it’s definitely worth checking for a P0705 fault or, better still, you can check the inhibitor switch continuity logic as shown below.
