Hello All, I'm Tim Roberts from Montana in the US. As a youngster, I learned the basics of wrench-turning from my dad and grandfather, and have spent the past 40 years expanding my knowledge through Toyota, Ford, Saab, Acura, and now Land Rover. Just bought a 2008 LR2 SE that is in minty mint condition with only 65K miles and meticulously maintained by one owner. I have always found these forums to be an excellent, if not the best, source of local information on DIY repairs and upgrades. As I plan to be the primary mechanic for this vehicle, I expect to have many questions which I hope the forum can answer and look forward to the conversations yet to come. Thanks.

Welcome to the loonyzone, Tim! :)
Always nice to have our cousins from the other side of the pond on board! :)
I don't quite follow your post about your vehicle, but thinking that might be a Freelander2?
The forum has a large, popular and informative Freelander section if that is the case!

Welcome. We need to figure out what a landrover 2 is though. I'm sure a landy 3 is a disco 3 to us so is yours a older version of a landrover 3?

Yes, it's a Freelander 2, or L359. Funny how the names change between the US and UK. I'm pretty pleased with it thus far, and as a mechanic I like the engineering of the Ford EU 3.2L Inline 6 engine. Even though the alternator is buried under the intake manifold, the direct drive coupler ensures that if it ever goes out, it will only happen once. The more I read and research, the more I love the thing.

Freelander 2 are supposed to be a pretty good motor! :)
