new to site and already need help

hi e1 just bought a 96 3.9 disco es.drove home with a hugh grin on my face realising how much better it was than my old 89 vouge se.came home from work and decided to take family out for a drive today only disco wont start it turns over and trys to fire but wont i can smell petrol so believe its getting a drink just wont fire any clues welcome as im as mechanically minded as a lump of wood
