Hi All.
Im in the process of buying a disco, looked at a L-reg 300 tdi the other day for £2500, had welding done to the rear with new floor pan.
When I asked why he was selling, he said he just brought a v8 with gas, this made me start thinking and now I dont now what to do.

Please could you help me with the pro's and con's on which one to choose, the landy will only be used on weekends mainly for the shooting season and will cover less than 4000 miles a year.

Manythanks for your inputt!

Rich

Hello,

Well matey there are pro's and con's for Tdi and V8.

Im biased towards the V8 because mine only does 3 or 4 mpg less than the diesel Tdi, I always return no less than 23mpg!!!!.

My car is for sale at the moment, the reason for this is a pair of knackered knees!!!!! She is a 1991, rare 3.5i manual, rare because it has fitted full range rover running gear, and an lt77s gearbox, This engine was only available to the export market due to its economical running and performance, also she has NEVER BEEN WELDED!!!!!.

With the little millage your covering, why go for an oil burner when a V8 is just as cheap to run ??

This is my 3rd V8 discovery, and my next one will be a V8 automatic.:D :D :D :D :D

nowt to do with me really but if i was only using one for weekends I'd go for the v8 as well because they seem to sell for a lot less money in the autotrader than diesels do (and the Range Rovers do as well for that matter ) just take someone with you who really knows them and who will drive it knowing what it should feel like . I bough t mine on spec and its cost me a lot of time and money to get it put right when I could have bought a better one for less money .

i would look at a series 2a landy, very cheap to pick up, no need for the v8, why you want a disco anyway?.
just to mud up and put dogs in you better off with series 2a or 3 they cheaper.
