Hi all, am after a new set of tires for my td4 got stuck on a grass roadway yesterday not sinking down just no grip with standard tires on.
After some off road tires of some sort, any reccomendations? I had a friend a few years back had some put on his freelander cant remember the make but the road noise was terrible.
Are some makes better than others for road noise or is it a bit of a compromise between noise and grip?
What sort of price would i expect to pay?
Many thanks in advance.

General AT2s - not the cheapest, but GOOD!!!!

Loads of good reviews on them. Had them on for about 3months - a little extra road noise (turn the radio up), but on snow - well, all the Chelsea boys (X5's, XC90's etc)were snailing it in the inside lane.

Not had any decent snow to have an real fun, but what we've had has made me think I'm gonna stick with AT2s......

Generall grabber AT2
Best you can get, yes they make more noise than the Goodyear Wranglers that we originally had, but acceptable.
Be carefull though what you gain off road you will loose on tarmac.
The AT2 wouldn't aquaplane no matter how much I tried, will claw through mud and snow - has to be seen to be believed, but on damp greasy roads, if pushed will slide as you have less rubber in contact with the road. Will also never be as good as road tyres on dry tarmac for the same reason.
If you want noise - just bought a set of Goodyear MT/R for the FL2 :)

Thanks for all the good advice!

Been to my 2 local tyre garages and they say at s are like rocking horse poo at the min!
