today, fit new thermostat and flush cooling system, removed viscous fan to get at the clips, decided to remove intercooler hose near battery for a bit more room, oil in hose, took it off oil in de egr pipe, so decided to take intercooler out and clean it too, so now removed rad, intercooler and thermostat, then remembered i have a new A bar in garage to fit, so removed headlights, front bumper etc, gave engine a good jizer off and then steamed all off, going to remove front wheels and fit new front shocks, so whilst it is more accessible will waxoyl chassis etc also took power steering pump off, drained all fluid and going to renew fluid, had a look at it all seems ok,
question is why the oil in intercooler pipe both sides and to the turbo?View attachment 46771

both sides of the turbo do you mean between filter and turbo as well as intercooler ,all turbos pass some oil but you shouldnt really notice it on the stick ,breather vents into filter pipe ,does it breath heavy when you remove filler cap

no pipe from turbo too intercooler, intercooler to inlet manifold, do you think this is all still there from the egr being on?
be lucky if it's done 1500 mile

the will both have oil as std from turbo amount might be an issue if its using oil,egr carbonises the oil restricting inlet ,hence some egr td5s having an exhaust gas cooler in the line but it still gums it up

The oil (vapour) is from the camshaft breather pipe, I have mine going into a catch tank and have plugged the inlet hose with a cork ! People go on about removing the EGR bit to improve economy but still allow oil to pass into and block up the intercooler.
