Just asking as I can't find it anywhere else. The new MOT in may 2018 seems to fail cars for modified/not original parts. Will all disco 2 converted from bags to coils fail ?

I wouldn't have thought so, unless the springs have actually snapped and it's visible. So far the only contentious issues would seem to be exhaust parts such as the EGR valve and cat.

That is correct, however 7 seaters only came with air from the factory.
My 2001 Td5 failed its mot on Friday for 7.1.3 Exhaust cat missing where one was fitted as standard.

Basically Simons mot failed because his cat had been removed by previous owner, I commented and said you’ll be taking it somewhere else next year then and this bloke chimes in about the rules and regulations and wouldn’t leave it, like a f*****g science lesson. Has an mot station “in the family”

I don't think that will fall foul of the new regs, the changes are all to do with emissions, which is why EGRs and cats are being hit.
The new rules about substantial modifications only apply to historic vehicles, which I believe have to be over 40 years old.

thats my understanding, no visible smoke on vehicles with a dpf fitted etc, land rover do actually supply coil springs for 7 seaters

My MOT is due in about 5 weeks time. I'm going to give it a go as it is without the EGR and see what happens. I've still got it and the old hoses. No idea if it works, but I'll slap it back on if it fails.
The EGR went on my last Mondeo and it blew a bit of black smoke on gear change or if accelerating hard. Is there any way of testing the EGR off a 300Tdi? Can you give it a suck and see if owt happens

I believe that seven seaters were fitted with air suspension only to meet EU regulations. Whether they are retro-fitted with springs is up to the owner.

I'll let you know. I might get rumbled as the garage I use has tested it for the last 12 years and I only took it off last summer. He's not had reason to look before though, so fingers crossedLooking forward to hear how you get on.

My Mondeo does that, and the egr is working. I think what causes that is that the cars run very low revs most of the time, so when you out your foot down and revs rise, it blows some crud out of the back.
Mine just sailed through the emissions test. Best thing to do is to take it out for a good run before the test, and make sure you get the revs up during the run. Make sure the cat is fully heated, and it has done it's cleaning cycles, and blown any steam and dirt out of the exhaust.
