Hi all,
Been looking for a classic Series for a fair while to restore with my son over the next few years.

Bought a 1983 Series III 88 2.5D hardtop and drove it home from Bath to Norfolk (200+ miles) yesterday!

Got lots of plans to restore to a sound mechanical state and looking forward to learning lots from all the knowledge and experience on here!

Hopefully the pic uploads OK. I know its got a non-standard grill and colour etc, but not too fussed. Just want to enjoy it and when restoring will decide whether to return to standard or not.

I'm new to Landys and this site....

Regards
Chris

of parts to be honest, so to find one with MOT til Oct was a surprise, so def a rolling resto till then, but will probably take it off the road at that point to strip it down etc.

Pics! I have one or two more I'll add now and going out to investigate the play in the steering (wish I'd had those bumper lanes kids use at bowling when driving home the other day, its that bad!) And a couple of other bits today so will take some some then.

I assume there's another place I should start a thread for that stuff, so will do some exploring and try and find it :)

There's here for your restoration thread

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/members-vehicles-projects.82/

And here for series questions

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/series-land-rovers.6/

And the site's also got a search facility.

Paddocks do decent paint when you're ready :D

Cheers Mamaduke, really appreciate the pointers!

Paint? I assumed I wouldn't need any once I got a healthy smattering of mud covering all the bodywork! :)

Ha! Yes, that was a pic just before we drove away from picking it up after the seller kindly gave us a couple of gallons of diesel!

Ha, bless him, he spent all afternoon out there yesterday with his sister exploring it, tinkering and checking what falls off and doesn't!

Looks a good straight SIII from the pics :) - what about under the bonnet - it must have an injun if you drove him/her home ;)
