Right simple . you know rule of 9, so hold no. 8 onto push rod tell its up (valve would be open ) set 1 and so on:D

wind screws down a bit then turn engiune till one valve just reaches fully open (push rod at its highest ,if you go past keep turning engine till next valve is just fully open ,which ever valve is fully open adjust its number from 9 ie 1 fully down adjust 8 ,2 adjust 7 ,3 adjust 6 ,4 adjust 5 ,5 adjust 4 ,6 adjust 3 ,7 adjust 2 ,8 adjust 1,adjust gap using 8 thou feeler guage ,mark each rocker as you adjust them ,when done check all adjuster screws have roughly the same number of threads above lock nut if not check push rod seated correctly or valve cap etc

so to clarify. Open = spring compressed ?? then set rocker 8 so it is touching top of valve and puch rod then turn engine so value is all the way down/open then adjust clearance of valve 1. how do i know that 8 should be open ?? sure i a missing somthing simple hear :D

open equals spring compressed ,valves dont open in numerical order you have to watch them start to move moving and mark thge other after setting

exactly just watch for any going down and stop when just fully open ,if you go past that point keep going till another starts to go down

ok so put it all back together though i had done a good job. went for a test run and all good to start with and now sounding like a machine gun and running very lumpy. any ideas. water is not bubbling no sign of any leak im not sure what to do
