Just to let you guys know, my P38 is on it's way....

I have a very good friend, who owns Sussex Autogas, and he is selling me his wifes car (that's nice for her..) - it has been sitting in a field for a while as the normal v8 head gasket issue materialised.

So the engine has been stripped down, bored out, new top hat liners, head skimmed, rebuilt with new everything - hopefully that should resolve the slipped liner issue.

She is up on the ramp at the moment, had a walk round underneath, new air bags all round, bushes replaced, very clean and tidy, perhaps with the exception of the rear exhaust which will probably need replacing in a year or so.

The car is gassed already, with a 80ltr tank in the spare well - and as Derek does it for a living I expect it to be a proper job ;-)

I have some questions though - it is the 4.6 HSE - it has 16" wheels, are these correct or should it have 18"?

Here is another dumb question - I noticed on the front and rear diffs a counterweight thingy, what are they for?

I do not really want to replace the head unit, but is there an easy way of adding iPod connectivity?

You sure Keith? I thought 16's were standard and the 18's were an option...

The counterweights are harmonic dampers I think.

There is a company (apologies, I can't find the link but it's on here somewhere) that will add an mp3 socket to your existing head unit. personally I just use a casette adaptor on mine.

Guy,

The 16's were "Standard" on the 4.0 but the 18's were "Standard" on the 4.6.......

As the OP says its a 4.6 then it SHOULD have 18's on it

OK so I might have to get some 18"s for mine then - set on ebay at the moment...

Ring Joe up at Emmotts (07785 240021) ..tell him your mates with Keith & "J" off landy zone (then he'll put 50% uplift on em to get back what me & "J" have fleeced outta him recently!!):D:D:D:D:D

I was there couple of weeks ago ..he had full sets of 18's 19's 20's & 22's on the shelf & he'll mail you some pics to choose.......

& he'll courier em down to you ..... FAR cheaper than Flea bay ........

Thanks Keith - gotta get the car 1st, but will seriously consider it - although this will be used off road so do not want to shell out a lot of money on wheels that will be permanently muddy...

Exactly what I thought .... Joe has all sorts of wheels/tyres in there theres bound to be a set that'll suit yer needs ..Perhaps even with some nice Mud Plugger Tyres on

There was a set there last week ... with (I think) Colway ATR's on em !!!

just get a fm transmitter for your ipod simple to work, works from inside your glove box and cheap :D:D

I got one of those for my missus. Utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter crap it was. Not heard a good word said about them regardless of brand!

Can't go wrong with a dedicated socket.
