lt seems Twisted have a stock of new TDCi Defenders that they've decided to sell.
Prices "start at £162,000 and rise to £221,000 depending on version" and l wonder who will actually buy these
vehicles.

It would be foolhardy to pay that price and put one into daily use, as you would wipe over £100,000 off the value in the first 12 months.

As for stuffing one in an "investment barn" l would be surprised if future values will anything like that high. That's E Type and Ferrari 458 money.

You can buy a pristine late low mileage Defender TDCi for around £40,000

l hope for the sake of the people who sink £160-220,000 into one of these vehicles that l am wrong.

lf l won the lottery, would l buy one? No.
What do others think. Would you pay £200,000 for a NOS Defender TDCi if you had the money?

There was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago...I think they customise to your requirments rather than sell as bog standard...

These are being sold "as is" with minimal modifications (remap, wheels) to satisfy some contractual requirements although you can specify further modifications.

There's an article about the Defenders in one of this months Land Rover magazines.

Tend to agree. 35k -40k tops really for no matter how cherished, loved or desired it is - it is unfortunately obsolete from an emissions point of view unless you do an electric conversion later and that ain’t cheap either. Even then still won’t have airbags etc either.

Richard Hammond had a restoration business?
I guess it's something to do after Top Gear. Clarkson's got his farm and May's doing TV documentaries.

Here they are ... https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/13133877/filing-history
On the last page of thier submitted accounts you'll see that they are owed £371K from 'a common Director' which when you look up the somewhat more financially succesful TV production company (owned in part by Amanda Hammond) you realise they have good accountants.

I thought it was called Richard Hammonds Worshop. Ive watched a couple.of episodes, they two doing the resto work are good but Hammond acts the fool and keeps getting them loss making jobs

No matter how desirable the defender is, that price is ridiculous. But I’m sure someone will pay it… o_O

Many years ago a chap developed a tool [ I forgot exactly what ] that was simple to make and did a better job than those sold by the main producers of the time. Sales were limited until he was advised to double the price even though this was not needed to make a tidy profit. He did as advise and sales rocketed.
