Good Morning all,

I am a complete novice when it comes to Land Rover – I have always appreciated them from a far! But NOW!!!I am planning to purchase a Discovery 3 2.7 diesel on a 55 plate.
After seeing the advert for the vehicle on autotrader I have been smitten with the vehicle.

I have now started reading up on the land Rover Discovery 3 from various websites.
I am now slightly concerned! I do like the car very much but am now un sure due to sheer amount of negative comments/ reviews the Disco 3 and Land Rover dealers has received.
SO the next step for me is to ask those that own them directly via this forum. J

Could these be true? To cut a long story short; Are Disco 3s as un reliable vehicles as its made out to be?

I want the car for the space and the convenience of 7 seats and on school holidays I will also do a little off road driving (nothing major)
I am not concerned with the fuel economy although I am concerned with the stories of the constant repairs having to be done on cars such as the 2005 and above models.

Any advise will be very helpful and any problems you have had with yours?

landrover isnt a reliable brand, cant comment on the model personal as i havent got one.Have you considered japense?

Yes, I have considered Japanese as well as German.
I currently own a BMW 5 series and have owned 3 others prior to my current one!
I don't like the X5 (i think it's ugly) but know it is reliable.
I now need a 7 seater vehicle.

There are not many 7 seater vehicles i like (not including the disco 3) I also like the Disco 4 but cannot afford one of those!
