Hello my name is John, I live in the U.S in Maryland. I collect cars and decided to buy a Defender 90 from the U.K. I appreciate this forum and all of the good information in it.

1987 D90 sw

It arrived last month and I have already started to tear it down. I will post the progress here on the forum.

Welcome. Good luck with the project. Pictures would be good. The correct name is a 90. Defenders weren't introduced until a couple of years later.

I'm guessing a 2.5 n/a or 19j otherwise it wouldn't be allowed to be imported

I'll have to call it a "defender " on this side of the pond as no one here would know what a 90 is.

Yup 19J in all its smoky glory is still installed, will Import a 300tdi soon.

I collect pre 1973 Porsche mostly and have 76 fj40 I've been meaning to restore for the last 9 years maybe after the "90"

Welcome! Maryland's a nice place, I was fortunate to see the Orioles v the Red Sox at Camden Yards a good few years back.

...at least it's in inches, not the metric stuff we have to deal with on this side of the pond...
