Hello I am about to buy a Discovery l or ll, I really like them a lot. I was wondering if you could get bigger tires without making it a death trap (roll over) thank you.

Hi Charlemagne. Welcome too the site.

You can fit bigger wheels to Discos but if you go too big, the wheels can catch the arches under axle articulation. A fix is to fit a lift kit and ket the arches slightly modified.

I run 245/70/16 Colway mud terrain tyres on white 8 spoke rims when I go laning or off roading. They are about as big as you can fit with standard suspension I think. (no expert you see) Mine did catch the rear offside arch but I found out that this was down to knackered stabiliser link bar. Replaced them and the rear shocks and springs and all is well now.

Also. Bigger wheels and tyres can make your speedo read wrong cos of the larger circumference.

Leaving mud terrain pattern tyres on for everyday use, increases fuel consumption as well, and they are noisy.
