Hi Is this where someone says Hello I am an Acholic!! maybe not I bet thats been done already.
Right down to business I am going to buy a Discovery in the next year I am asking all you experts to help me.
I don't won't to run straight in to getting a model that has got all the problems that you would have said OH NO you should have got the ****
So come on guys I know that we all have different ideas but what should I steer away from and what should I look for.
I realise that the £2,000 that I am prepaired to spend will not get me a fantastic Discovery but your comments please, I am not looking for War and Peace just some pointers .
I will be using it for low mileage family and Fishing so some Mud but not realy what you guys classify as proper Off Road maybe get round to that later on, let me get used to one first.
Cheers Fisherman123

Discos have a tendency to rot from the inside out so dont get ensnared by shiny paintwork. Boot floor, cills and door posts are prime suspects but I'm sure some of the wannabe tratter boys will be along in a bit to read you the small print :D

:welcome2:

Ok I will cut down on the booze when typing and I get the message about sunroofs and rust.
what I was realy after was engine type size Disco 1 or 2 ? help me I am a Virgin ( not realy but it got your attention )
Or is it as simple as getting the best you can afford with the lowest mileage and complete set of paperwork oh yeah no rust and if I get pushy wait for one without a sunroof thats only been used on the school run .
Anyone got one spare?

You'll struggle to get a disco 2 on your budget so the chances are that you'll end up with a disco 1. I'd be looking at a diesel rather than petrol. As already said, corrosion is the big killer.

Hi all VERY new to this site but from what I have read, it looks good to me, nice to know others have same problems as me

I've just bought a 97 Discovery 1 300TDi for that sort of money, it's in need of a tidy up but still plenty of life left in the old girl yet, i'm sure you won't be disappointed as for low mileage I would worry more about how it's been looked after, there seem to be loads of high mileage decent Disco's out there.

:welcome2: Buy one you like/can afford, and then fix what needs to be fixed. It's a bit like buying a woman, when you find the right one you'll know....:D
